The Book of 1 Thessalonians

CHAPTER ONE1 To the members of the church in Thessalonica, Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy extend their greetings. Both God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ are the rightful owners of the people of this church. May God's goodness bless you and provide you with serenity. We always speak to him about all of you, and we do so for you. 2 Your excellent doings are a result of your faith. Since love is in your hearts, you put forth a lot of effort. You have hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, which makes you patient. Every time we pray to God, our Father, about you, we keep these things in mind. 3 We know that God has chosen you because he loves you, my brothers.  4 The wonderful news we delivered to you was more than simply words. It was strong. It was filled with the Holy Spirit. It made them certain that it was true. Additionally, you are aware of how we lived when we were with you to assist you. 5 You made a lot of effort to emulate both us and the Lord. You experienced a lot of difficulties because you trusted our message. Nonetheless, the Holy Spirit made you very joyful. 6 You have demonstrated to all Christians in Macedonia and Greece how they should live. 7 The news about the Lord has reached people in Macedonia and Greece by you. And word has spread around the world that you believe in God. As a result, we see no reason to write about your faith. 8 They tell us how happy you were to see us. They explain to us how you turned away from your idols and toward God. You worship the Living and True God. 9 And you eagerly anticipate the return of his Son from heaven. Jesus, God's Son, was risen from the dead. It is Jesus who protects us from God's impending wrath.

CHAPTER THREE3 Finally, when we could take it no longer, we made the decision to remain by ourselves in Athens, 2 and we dispatched Timothy to visit you. He is our brother and God's partner in spreading the Gospel of Christ. We sent him to strengthen you, to encourage you in your faith, and to protect you from being rocked by the difficulties you were facing. But you are aware that these difficulties are inevitable for us. 4 We told you that difficulties were coming even while we were with you, and as you are well aware, they occurred. 5 As a result, when I was unable to take it anymore, I sent Timothy to see if your faith was still strong. I was worried our efforts had been in vain and that the tempter had overcome you. 6 However, Timothy has just returned with wonderful news about your faith and kindness. He says that you always have happy memories of our visit and that you look forward to seeing us just as much as we do. 7 So, dear brothers and sisters, we have been tremendously encouraged in the midst of our difficulties and suffering because you have remained firm in your faith. 8 It gives us new life to know that you are steadfast in the Lord. 9 How thankful we are to God for you! We experience enormous excitement as we enter God's presence because of you. 10 We pray fervently for you day and night, pleading with God to provide us another opportunity to see you so that we might complete any holes in your faith. 11 May God, our Father, and Jesus, our Lord, soon bring us to you. 12 And may the Lord increase and overflow the love you have for one another and for all people, just as it does for us when we think of you. 13 So that when our Lord Jesus returns with all of his holy people, may he make your souls strong, pure, and holy so that you may stand before God our Father. Shalom.

CHAPTER FIVE : 5 Now, dear brothers and sisters, we really don't need to tell you about how and when all of this will happen. 2 Because you are well aware that the Lord's coming day will occur suddenly, like a thief in the night. 3 Disaster will strike individuals when they are saying, "Everything is tranquil and secure," as suddenly as a pregnant woman's labour pangs. There won't be a way out either. 4 But, dear brothers and sisters, you are not in the dark about these things, and you will not be astonished when the Lord’s Day arrives like a thief. 5 Because none of us are related to darkness or night; rather, we are all descendants of light and day. 6 So be on watch and don't fall asleep like the others. Keep your eyes open and your mind clean. 7 At night, people sleep, and drinkers become intoxicated. 8 But let us who live in the light keep our heads clear, armed with the armor of faith and love, and with the assurance of our salvation as our helmet. 9 For instead of punishing us, God decided to redeem us through the sacrifice of his Son, Jesus Christ. 10 Christ died for us so that we might live with him eternally, whether we are dead or alive when he returns.  11 So, exactly as you are, encourage and build one other up. 12 Honour those who are in positions of leadership within the work of the Lord, my brothers, and sisters. They toil among you and provide spiritual direction. 13 Because of their labour, show them enormous esteem and unconditional affection. live in harmony with one another. 14 Please warn the unproductive people, brothers and sisters, we beg you. Boost the confidence of the timid. Give the weak your caring attention. Be understanding with everyone. 15 Make sure that no one seeks revenge for past wrongdoings; instead, encourage mutually beneficial behaviour among all individuals. 16 Be happy at all times. 17 You should never cease praying. 18 Be grateful in all situations, for this is God's wish for you, Christ Jesus' followers. 19 Avoid suppressing the Holy Spirit. 20 Do not dismiss prophecies, but rather put everything to the test. Hold on to the positive. 22 Keep away from all forms of wickedness. 23 Now, may the God of peace make you holy in every manner, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body is maintained blameless until the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 God will make it happen, for he who calls you is faithful. 25 Praise God for us, brothers and sisters. 26 With a sacred kiss, greet every one of your brothers and sisters.  27 In the name of the Lord, I instruct you to read this letter to all of the brothers and sisters. 28 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

CHAPTER TWO: 2 My brothers, you are aware that we did not come to see you in vain.  2 Philippians were quite rude to us. As you are aware, things were difficult. But God helped us, and we did not hesitate to share God's good news with you. But several forces conspired against us and made attempts to stop us. 3 We did not convey a false message. It wasn't incorrect what we told you. We didn't attempt to mislead you either. 4 However, God selected us to share the good news with people. Therefore, we speak not to appease mankind but to appease God. He is the only one who knows what is in our hearts. 5 We never gave anybody positive feedback that wasn't based on fact. You're aware of it. We never talked in order to gain something for ourselves. God knows. 6 And we did not want assistance or praise from you or anybody else. We have the authority to do so because we are apostles of Christ, of course. 7 But when we were with you, we showed kindness. We were like a mother looking after our own children. 8 We were overjoyed to share God's good news with you because we loved you. We loved you so deeply that we were happy to sacrifice our life for you. 9 You remember how arduous our labour was, my brothers. We worked all hours of the day and night to avoid bothering you. And we shared the gospel of God with you. 10 Among you Christians, we lived purely and properly. No harm was done to you by us. You are aware of these, as is God. 11 You are aware of how we addressed each of you in the manner of a father to his children. We gave you comfort, support, and knowledge. 12 We urged you to conduct your life in God's favour. He called you to his dominion and splendour. 13 Another reason for our constant thanksgiving to God is given below. You didn't remark, "That's men's word," when you received God's message from us. But you said, 'That is God's word.' And it truly is God's word. The word of God is at work in you, Christians. 14 You were similar to the Christ-cantered churches of God in Judea, my brothers. You were tormented by your own countrymen in the same manner that the Jews had plagued them. 15 The Lord Jesus and the prophets were murdered by Jewish authorities. And they forcibly removed us from their nation. They displease God and are inimical to everyone else. 16 They make an effort to silence us when we speak with non-Jewish individuals. They refuse to be saved. As a result, they are always doing the incorrect thing. God had finally grown really enraged with them at this point. little time in the body, but not in heart, have been apart from you. We made a lot of effort to go since we were quite anxious to see you in person. 17 We intended to visit you. Paul, I wanted to come twice. But the devil stopped us. 18 What hopes do we have when our Lord Jesus returns? What, then, will make us joyful and proud? People, it's you! 19 For what is our hope, joy, or crown in which we shall exult when our Lord Jesus returns? If not you, who? 20 You are our pride and delight, in fact.

CHAPTER FOUR: 4 In the name of the Lord Jesus, we implore you to live as we have taught you, dear brothers, and sisters, in a manner that pleases God. You already live this way, and we urge you to continue doing so. 2 You retain what we told you, for we spoke in the name of the Lord Jesus. 3 Stay away from every sexual sin because God wants you to be holy. 4 Each of you will then be able to control his or her own body and live in holiness and honour, 5 rather than in lustful desire like the pagan people who are ignorant of God and his ways. 6 Never, ever violate a fellow believer's wife in this area, for the Lord avenges all such crimes, as we have often reminded you. 7 We must live holy lives, not immoral ones, as God has commanded us to. 8 As a result, anybody who refuses to follow these principles is not disregarding human teaching but rejecting God, who gives you his Holy Spirit. 9 But we don't need to speak to you about the significance of loving one another since God has already taught you to do so. 10 You have already demonstrated your love for all the believers throughout Macedonia. Despite this, dear brothers and sisters, we implore you to love them even more.  11 Make it your objective to live a tranquil life, minding your own business and working with your hands, as we already advised you. 12 People, who are not believers, will appreciate your way of life, and you will no longer need to rely on others. 13 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to understand what will happen to the believers who have died so you won't mourn as hopeless people. 14 Because we believe that Jesus died and was risen from the dead, we also believe that when Jesus comes, God will bring all of the Believers who have passed away with him. 15 We bring you this message straight from the Lord: Those of us who are still alive when the Lord returns will not go to meet him before the dead. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding shout, the voice of an archangel, and the sound of God's trumpet. First, the dead believers will rise from their graves. 17 Then, along with them, those of us who are still living and remaining on earth will be carried away in the clouds to be with the Lord in the air. Then, we shall spend all our time with the Lord. 18 Use these words to inspire one another.
